Diploma Course in LANDSCAPE DESIGN

From HoD’s desk…This students report is for displaying many accomplishments and achievements of the landscape design department at JRVGTI.
The past year had been an eventful year, a feat I can proudly say was a result of dynamic cooperation of students and faculties alike.
Starting the year with our normal schedule of studio activities and site visits, the first semester ended only to start the second one with a bang. It started with study tour and designing activities. January brought in an entirely new concept with “Palvi” workshop showcasing various activities and guest lectures. It culminated into interdepartmental sports activities bringing student community closer.
The annual exhibition of the institute is an occasion highlighting the talents of students of all the departments. The common theme “Nirvana” given for exhibition was handled in a creative way by the students through Zen philosophy and five elements of nature.
This was shortly followed by the participation of the department in the “Elevation” event of the institute. The department also actively participated in the 35th annual exhibition organized by Pune Municipal Corporation at Sambhaji Udyan by holding an informative stall.
Striving for excellence in every possible field related to landscape in a spectacular way has been the guiding principle for us here. Thus, our true aim is the development of integrated young citizens with moral values and professionalism.
Landscape Designing is a profession that mixes both the arts and the sciences. Landscape designers contribute to the quality of human life in terms of improving the richness and beauty of our surroundings. Landscape designers are concerned with the design and development of land around a building (such as a hotel, commercial complex, educational campus etc) or open space (such as children’s play areas, public recreational places etc.) Landscape designers use a combination of skills. They have to look into the natural elements and the requirements of use` Trends indicate that there will be increasing demand for Landscape Designers in the coming years. The course is structured in such a way that students can get an opportunity to design as well as execute the landscape projects with expertise and confidence.
My heartfelt gratitude to the Management, whose active interest in the growth of our department continues each year, enriching us with their support and guidance.
